Customer Review: Bad Choice
It fell apart within days … it makes a grinding noise, wobbles and not at all steady. I called up the Customer Service, but the solutions they provided were temporary (worked for 2 min, then the noise started again !!). There is some serious design flaw in this product. I have used ellipticals many other places, but this one is the worst among the lot. Not worth buying !!!
Customer Review: DO NOT BUY THIS!!!
3 Days….3 DAYS!!! before it started to fall apart. It creaks and grinds and is NOT WORTH YOUR TIME OR MONEY!
I’d give it zero stars if I could.

Fitness Equipment – Smooth CE 7.4 Elliptical
July 9, 2006 · Leave a Comment
Smooth CE 7.4 Elliptical The Smooth CE 7.4 elliptical cross trainer is a built for those who take health and fitness seriously. It offers all the “features that count” and more. Plus, with its extra-heavy, welded steel double frame the CE 7.4 supports a remarkable 350 pounds – as much or more than most commercial units.
Customer Review: Make another choice!
I bought my 7.4 in March but received it more than a month later, even though the company charged my credit card immediately. On the positive side I will say the unit seems well-made, and it is quiet.
But I do have a complaint (or warning?), and I think it is a very important one. The foot pedals are at least six inches apart, which has been bad news for my joints. I’m 5′5″ and that wide span seems to put my hips, knees, and ankles into a position that causes strain and a lot of discomfort. My knees hurt so much I don’t even use the machine anymore. I’m hoping that after a couple of weeks they feel better. I am in very good physical shape and have never had any joint problems in the past. The Smooth website never mentions anything about the wide spacing between foot pedals– no wonder, it’s nothing to brag about! I feel bad enough that I wasted that much money on a piece of equipment I can’t use– don’t you do the same!!
Customer Review: BEWARE: One size doesn’t fit all
When our previous (Reebok gym quality) elliptical bit the dust after a move, my husband and I did a ton of research before settling on the Smooth 7.4. I *thought* we asked all the right questions before purchasing.
Here’s the real deal: The boxes that it’s delivered in are HEAVY–no way a couple can move them. 2 strong men or it’s not getting set up. Set up is lengthy but not impossible. Our machine came with a factory-install related squeak in one arm–they sent the wrong replacement TWICE & we’re awaiting their 3rd try.
BUT my main complaint and WARNING is that if you are a smaller person (I am 5′3″ with US womans size 6 feet), this machine is NOT for you. The footbeds & “the pivoting foot pedals” are a major problem for smaller feet, more often than not acting like a see-saw, throwing balance totally off, and causing heels to land atop the footbed edges during steps and feet to either be too far toe-down or (even worse) too far toe-up with the entire foot at about a 45 degree angle–putting extreme pressure on the ankles. I never had problems like these with our prior elliptical. Becuase of the impossible balancing routine, this one actually causes me ankle & knee pain, totally defeating the purpose of the machine!
My husband–6′ tall–likes the machine. (Other than the fact that ours is still not in proper working order.) I am HUGELY dissappointed and do not enjoy the workouts one bit.

Customer Review: Smooth 9.1HR-disaster
I purchased this treadmill in February of 2004, and it has been sitting in my bedroom in pieces now since December 2005 – todays date is March 14th, 2006. The 1st problem I had was the hydraulic motor leaked fluid on my carpet, and one of the rollers had a bad bearing. This was repaired after a couple of months as it took that long to reach someone at Smooth to repair, get parts, and get someone out to fix it.
In December of last year, the electronic board went out. It’s now been sitting in my bedroom for nearly 4 months, waiting for a new board. The repair team at Smooth can only inform me, when I can get in touch with them, which is an issue in itself, that those boards are on backorder, and they have no idea when they will be available. So, in 2 years, it’s been broken down, unusable, waiting for repairs for a total of 5 months.
Customer Review: A Treadmill Christmas
My wife begged and pleaded for me to get her a treadmill for Christmas. She’s always been into fitness, but outdoor exercise isn’t always practical for her. Needless to say, I gave in and bought her a treadmill, as she requested. The treadmill I bought was the Smooth 9.15HR. It’s been in our home for only a few weeks, and it’s worked out wonderfully so far. I suppose it may be too soon to know how durable it will end up being. But, judging from the weight of the unit and the smooth workouts it provides, I would imagine that it should last a good while. The Smooth 9.15HR has some nice features, which is one of the reasons I chose it. I like the fact that it is a power folding treadmill so that it doesn’t have to be left down all the time, taking up extra space. It’s not difficult to operate. It comes with a variety of preset programs, or you can manually set the speed and incline to the levels you desire. It has a heart rate monitor that helps ensure an efficient cardiovascular workout. It looks every bit as good and sturdy as a commercial unit, in my opinion. Yeah, it costs a bit more than lots of other treadmills. Hopefully, however, the extra cost will be worth it in the end. At least, the machine is backed by some decent warranties through Smooth Fitness in case something does go wrong with it.

Fitness Equipment – ProForm 900 SpaceSaver StrideSelect Elliptical
July 7, 2006 · Leave a Comment
ProForm 900 SpaceSaver StrideSelect Elliptical The ProForm 900 SpaceSaver StrideSelect elliptical features a dual-action design with motorized resistance and 10 workout programs. The blue backlit display offers readouts for time, calories, heart rate and more. 10 resistance levels allow you to change the tension according to your fitness level and goals, while the adjustable stride length lets you choose the stride distance that is most comfortable for you.
Customer Review: Step #1. Research , Step #2. TEST the device, Step #3. Repeat as needed!
RESEARCH:
I used one of these in the store and spent a great deal of time researching online before I decided on buying this model. Most of the ProForm ellipticals > are best for smaller built people such as women who generally also have an overall lighter body weight (well under the generally suggested 200 LBS). Many people have stated that they break down prematurely due to a construction type that does not do well with “heavier” amounts of daily stress. This leads to a shaking, shimmy or general “unstable” feeling when faster striding is done or worse yet, the frame may brake.
TESTing, Testing 1…2…3…:
The store model was creaky – from obvious overuse & abuse by all kinds/sizes of people however, my test went very well. If the store model was OK then I doubt I could hurt it. I am 5′2” and 115/120 LBS. I found it quite smooth and comfortable. Changing the stride length was “pull, push, snap”, literally. Folding the unit up was easy to do by unhooking the strider arms from the back, pushing the button near the handle then picking up the 30 LBS or so back portion until it locked in place. The handles hold themselves up when you fold it by use of magnetic pads. I then pushed it around fairly easily with the help from the wheels. This device weighs just a bit more than I do and takes up just about as much room as my bowflex.
REPEAT AS NEEDED:
I strongly suggest not going on what a few reviewers have to say and actually go out and locate one in a store to test. A “home model” elliptical will not be as capable to handle all body types as a “Pro Gym” model. Cost is always a concern however, larger people (both height and weight) may wish to spend the extra $$ and, buy a model designed to handle the added stress.
END RESULT:
I like this ProForm 900 very much and have had no issues so far with it. It saved me the $60. per month at the gym and I was able to get the return on my investment in about 8-10 months.
Customer Review: Broken Product — Terrible Customer Service
We purchased a Proform elliptical several months ago… it took hours to assemble and then clearly had defective parts. It has been months of calls and complaints and the product is still not working (and we can’t say the Proform people seem to really care)… avoid this company at all costs!

Customer Review: I Feel Gyped
I ordered this thing and it didn’t come with the hot chick shown in the picture!
Customer Review: decent
This is a pretty good value, for the price.
I’d like to point out, that you need to hold the handle bars to stay on this self powered runner, and that’s not SUCH a great thing, as you’re not supposed to hold handle bars on runners, if you want to achieve the full potential of your movements….
Pro: It does fold easily, and doesn’t take up all that much room when in storage position.
Again, for the price, this is a fair item. I’m not sorry I purchased it. Another pro: it’s not loud while in use, as some can be.
You get what you pay for, if you want some mind blowing piece of work out gear, you’ll have to spring for more. ;>
